(ejtsd: koksz), 1. Henrik Octavianus, angol tudós, szül. 1811., meghalt 1881 jul. 8. Oxfordban tanult a worcester College-ban, s 1680. Oxfordban a Bodleyan-könyvtár főőre lett. Az angol történelmi táruslat számára kiadta: The chronicles of Roger of Wendover (Lond. 1841-44) és a Roxburghe-club számára The black prince, an historical poem, written in French by Chandos Herald, fordítással és jegyzetekkel. (1842). Több értékes katalogus tállított össze: Catalogue of Mss. In the library of All Soul"s College (Oxford 1842); Catalogue of the Mss. Belonging to the colleges and halls of Oxford =u. o. 1852, 2 kötet); Caatalogus Codd. Mss. Bibloithecae Bodleianae (u. o. 1853-85, 3 kötet).

2. C. Vilmos, angol utazó és történetiró, szül. Londonban 1747., megh. Bemertonben 1828. Az ifju Pembroke grófot kisérte 1775-79., Whitbreadot 1784. Európa nagy részén át. Nevezetesebb útleirásai: Travels in Switzerland (London 1789. 3 köt.); Travels in Poland, Rusai, Sweden and Denmark (u. o. 1784).
