Halleck Fitz-Greene

Halleck Fitz-Greene, északamerikai költő, szül. Guilfordban (Connecticut) 1790 jul. 8., megh. u. o. 1867 nov. 19. Hosszabb időn át könyvelő, majd az Astor-ház ügynöke volt, 1822. meglátogatta Európát s 1849., Astor végrendeletileg egy kis évjáradékot biztosítván neki, szülővárosába vonult vissza. Művei: Fanny (New-York 1819, 1821); Aluwick Castle, with other poems (1827, 1836, 1845); Fanny and other poem (1839); The poetical works of F. 81842); The croakers, by H. and Drake, nr. 16. Bradfordclub series (1860); Young America, a poem (1865). egyéb kiadványai: The works of Lord Byron in verse and poese, including his letters, journals etc. (1834) és Selections from the British poets (1840). Halála után James Grant Wilson adtak ki H. máveit: The poetical writtings of Fitz-Greene H., with extraits of those of Drake (3. kiad. 1869). V. ö. Wilson, The life and letters of Fitz-Greene H. H. (New-York 1869) és Taylor Bayard cikkét a North American Reviewben (1877).
