Dunlap

(ejtsd: dönlepp) Vilmos, amerikai festő és drámairó, szül. Perth Ambogban (New-Jersey) 1766 febr. 19., megh. New-Yorkban 1834 szept. 28. Pályáját mint festő kezdte el s csak később adta magát a drámairásra. Darabjait, minők The father (1789), Leicester (1794) és André (1798) nagy tetszéssel fogadták. Egyéb művei: History of the American theatre (1832); History of the rise and progress of the art of design in the U. S. (2 köt. 1834). Ő alapította a nemzeti rajzakadémiát (National Academy of Design) is. Tiszteletére és drámai műveinek kiadására New-Yorkban 1886. D.-társaság alakult.
